Rebranding Daintree Wireless Lighting Controls
Lighting Controls can be complicated. It was my mission to simplify them. When I came back to GE Current, their lighting controls program needed to take the complexity out of it. So when I looked at it I saw an opportunity to simplify the message by creating a good/better/best approach. Daintree ONE was stand alone controls (mostly for high bay industrial lighting), Daintree EZ Connect was our new solution that was our app-based room controls, and Daintree Networked was our fully functional digital network for entire buildings and networks. This re-branded approach allowed us to double our sales numbers in the first year. Additionally, by adding controls to our lighting packages, we were able to create a unique specification position and have more pull-through with our lighting fixtures.

Volunteerism: Surfrider Foundation Northern Ohio Chapter
Proving people wrong again by showing that there is surf in Cleveland, Ohio!I was the Marketing Coordinator for the local chapter of the Surfrider Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio from 2023-2025. During those 3 years I served on the Executive Board, I increased social followers and membership by 20%+ Year over Year.We even won the 2024 Summer Membership drive (Level 2 chapters). I was extremely proud of that, considering we were only 6 members short of chapters, like San Diego and Long Beach (Both are Level 1 chapters), which have a lot more existing members and history in their markets. Check out some of our campaign highlights.
Driving Market Share with Energy Code Driven Integrated Marketing
Energy Codes may be one of the most boring things in our industry. So we developed a Integrated Marketing and training program to make it more fun and engaging. Each energy code is on it's own 3 year cycle. ASHRAE, Title 24 and IECC and every state and local municipality can choose to adopt and/or amend any of these codes. What does that mean for lighting? Well every code has different requirements, and the way you program lights to come on, off, dim or use daylight harvesting and demand generation can get confusing. We started by creating code guides to make it easier to understand what the lighting requirements are, and how to program them.
Click here to view the Legrand Code Guide. (Anything published prior to 2020 I would be responsible for)This program has been incredibly successful and has become an industry standard for all lighting control manufacturers.
#ImitationIsTheSincerestFormOfFlattery
Then we turned the program into a training program called SPACES. This was a scalable training program that featured train-the-trainer guides, power point training, hands-on training and interactive workbooks. A trainer could use the workbook to select a variety of locations. Choose from retail, education, commercial office or hospitality. Then choose your room type. The trainer will guide the class on proper placement of controls and sensor, as well as the way to program the controls. The class could be simplified for a 30-minute session, or it could be scaled to a half-day deep dive training. It could also be scaled for the audience (i.e. basic controls for inside sales all the way to complicated designs for journeyman electrical contractors.)

Creating a Big Rock Turkey Bible
Content Marketing. It's one of the big industry buzz-terms right now. Ultimately it comes down to telling a compelling story to a key persona that addresses their pain points. This ebook, which we called the Big Rock Turkey Bible, targets Facility Managers in Industrial and Manufacturing industries. We wanted to tell a complete story of how a facility manager can effectively reduce energy costs in their facility. This eBook allows us to tell a comprehensive story that aligns with the sales cycle and sales funnel. Our teams can leverage the various parts and tools within this interactive eBook to help them tell effective stories to their Industrial customers as they are in working through the sales funnel. We are leveraging the various pieces of content in sales, eMail, web, social & media buys, etc. Click here to view my Industrial BigRockTurkeyBible eBook.
Side note: Why did we call it the BigRockTurkeyBible? We wanted this to be a complete story that goes through a customers thought process when thinking about a lighting/energy upgrade. Originally we thought "this is like a big rock that can be broken into pieces!" There was a perception that "Big Rocks" can be hard to break. Then we thought, "OK...it's like a big Thanksgiving Day Turkey that can be carved up and the leftovers can be turned into other smaller meals!" This concept was not understood by our European counterparts that do not celebrate Thanksgiving. The bible? Everyone can understand the bible. Each chapter of verse can be used on its own to tell a story, or can be part of a bigger message.
Hence: BigRockTurkeyBible

Elvis lives...In Parma, Ohio.
This was a project that was totally canned by our legal department, but the photoshoot was too good not to share!
We planned on attending NACS, a tradeshow focused on Convenience Stores. We designed our booth to look like a Quiky-Mart and we needed a hand out. We thought, since our design was a parody of a C-Store...why not do a parody of a tabloid!
We made our Outdoor LED fixtures look like we were being invaded by UFOs, Bigfoot was in our freezer section. And Elvis!?! Well, he was installing signage just outside of Las Vegas!
Unfortunately, the project was killed over trademark issues. But this video lives.
